Afterwards you will be offered to have lunch of locally composed ingredients at the resort. After returning from the highlands we will explore the Golden Circle which includes Gullfoss (The Golden Waterfall), Geysir hot springs and Thingvellir National Park. This Iceland holidays Golden Circle & Kerlingarfjöll day tour is a genuine must see during your visit in Iceland.

• Kjölur Higland route
• Kerlingafjöll geothermal area
• Highland glacier view
• Gullfoss waterfall
• Geysir hot springs area
• Thingvellir National Park
• Colourful rhyolite stone mountains

Kerlingafjöll is a mountain range in the Highlands of Iceland. The area is a part of a vast volcano range where you can find hot springs and geothermal activity. Minerals give the rhyolite stone mountains a unique array of colours. We will spend around 2 and a half hours in this magical place and you will have an opportunity to buy lunch or have an afternoon snack at Gullfoss café.

Gullfoss, or the Golden Waterfall, is one of Iceland´s most famous waterfalls. You will have an opportunity to walk so close to the edge that you can feel the mist of the glacial water on your face. When the sun is shining the spray from the waterfalls often forms a rainbow.

Geysir is our next stop. The geothermal area around the spouting hot springs of Geysir is breathtaking. Stokkur is the most active hot spring in the area and it spouts steaming hot water up to 20 meters or higher. We will also see pools of bubbling mud which is an amazing sight.

Our last stop is at Thingvellir National Park, the original site of the oldest existing parliament in the world and a UNESCO heritage site. Here, Althingi (Parliament) was founded in 930 AD. Thingvellir is full of history but it is also geologically remarkable as the tectonic plate boundaries form a breathtaking scenery. It is the perfect ending to a perfect day on this Iceland holidays Golden Circle & Kerlingafjöll day tour.
