We will pass villages on the south coast, such as Selfoss, Vík and Kirkjubæjarklaustur. These villages have a special charm that you will experience in person on this day tour. Of the villages in this area, Kirkjubæjarklaustur is probably the best known due to its geographical location. It is close to Skaftafell National Park and is the only place between Vík and Höfn which offers services such as fuel station, bank and supermarket. Close to the village is Kirkjugólf (Church floor), a natural basalt pavement in the earth and these columns have the appearance of a paved church floor.

On this Iceland holidays day tour, we will visit Skógarfoss waterfall. It is situated at the cliffs of the former coastline in the south of Iceland and is one of the biggest waterfalls in the country, 25 m (82 ft) wide and with a drop of 60 m (200 ft). Due to the amount of spray the waterfall produces, you can usually see a single or a double rainbow on a sunny day.

Skaftafell National Park was a national park but in 2008 it became a part of the larger Vatnajökull National Park. It is about 4807 km2(2884 mi²) that makes it Iceland´s second largest national park. The landcape has been formed in thousands of years by different influences of fire (eruptions of Öræfajökull) and water (glaciers and rivers). It is a beautiful place to visit.

Öræfajökull glacier is an ice-covered volcano and is the largest acitive volcano in Iceland. On it´s north-western rim is Hvannadalshnjúkur, Iceland´s higest peak. The route to the top is a popular climb though numerous and frequently hidden crevasses call for experienced mountain guides. Geographically Öræfajökull is considered to be a part of Vatnajökull glacier, Iceland´s largest glacier, and the area covered by glacier is inside the bounds of Vatnajökull National Park.

The last stop on this Iceland holidays Jokulsarlon lagoon & south coast tous is the Lagoon itself. It is a large glacial lake, on the borders of Vatnajökull National Park and is considered to be one of Iceland´s natural wonders. It involved into a lagoon after the glacier Breiðarmerkurjökull started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Since then the lake has grown because of the melting of the Icelandic glaciers. Icebergs of all shapes and sizes float around the lagoon. The lagoon is filled with fishes that drift in from the sea along with the tides. Seals gather in large numbers at the mouth of the lagoon to catch fish during winter. The picturesque scene of the lagoon and the Breiðarmerkurjökull glacier have been a part of several well-known Hollywood films, such as James bond and Lara Croft´s Tomb Raider. You will have time to walk the shores of the lagoon and take pictures. It is also possible to take the cruise aboard an amphibious vessel and sail amongs the icebergs (special booking). This Iceland holidays Jokulsarlon lagoon & south coast day tour by superjeep, will definitely leave you with memories and magic for a lifetime.
